Adding rates to marker sets
You can only use this tool if you have well production rates in your solution.
With the Add Rates to Markers tool (prepare > Wells > Add Rates to Markers), you can add the well production rates to markers as a property. You can display the well rates using the time animator or using the sliders in the Object Inspector.
Important
Production rates are listed as a property in the JewelExplorer under the Production Data folder once you have imported or dragged and dropped them in your solution. You can display historical production data with the add rates to marker option, or using the Production Data View (Old) .
To add well rates to a marker:
- In the Model drop-down list, specify the marker set containing the marker that you want to add rates to.
- Select the marker in the Marker drop-down list.
- On the lower part of the form you specify the time steps you want to use. If you want to use the time steps from the input data, check the 'Use original sampling'. This will disable the sampling steps and unit. If you want to specify the settings yourself, select a number of sampling steps, and next select a period.
- In the Well Rates table, you can select which well rates you want to use. If you select a well rate, this will update the calendar at the bottom of the form.
- Click OK to add the production rates as a property to the selected marker. You can now select the property in the JewelExplorer under Marker Sets > 'your markerset' > Horizons > 'your marker'.
To visualize well rates:
- Open the 3D View, select all wells and the marker for which you have added the production rates.
- In the JewelExplorer, select a production rate for display and use the context menu to make the legend visible.
- Go to Tools > Time Animation to open the Time Animation toolbar.
- Click the play button to start the animation, or use step back and step forward buttons to display another timestep.
You can also visualize the production rates with shapes that are proportional to the production rates. Use the context menu of the marker and go to Display Settings > Shape options > Scale Object > 'Your production rate'.
Well rates are also used for historical production rates and field totals, which can be used to generate Production Data plots and support the reservoir simulation history matching process.
